What is one-time rental?
At Dressr, one-time rental is renting from our collections without a recurring monthly membership. You can browse through our pieces from more than 50 local brands, select an outfit for your special occasion, rent and wear that outfit for a full ten days, and then send it back!
One-time rental gives those who may not be ready for a full-time membership the ability to experience the rental revolution in a way that suits their lifestyle.
How does one-time rental reduce your fashion footprint?
According to a Censuswide poll conducted by the Barnardo’s foundation, British consumers spent £2.7 billion (€3 billion) in 2019 on 50 million summer outfits that would be worn only once.
Of that, £800 million (€889 million) was spent on wedding outfits alone that consumers admitted would likely be chucked or donated after a single wear. This kind of consumption is simply not sustainable – and hasn’t been for a long time.
The global fashion industry as we know it has reached a crisis point that sees more than 92 billion tonnes of textile waste end up in landfill every year. And whilst donating clothing may seem like a nice idea, the poor quality of fast fashion garments means donating is just a roundabout way to the top of a rubbish tip.
